Pound Ridge sex-slave case author facing more serious charges | March 9, 2010
Charges have been upgraded against a Pound Ridge author accused of luring foreign women to jobs at his home, failing to pay them and forcing some into sexual slavery. Joseph Yannai could face up to 15 years in prison after a Westchester County grand jury indicted him on sex and trafficking charges involving three women from Hungary, France and Brazil, the District Attorney's Office said today. State to get tougher on child sex trafficking | March 10, 2010
A bill that would impose tougher penalties on child sex traffickers and customers of child prostitutes and help their young victims rebuild their lives has passed the Legislature and is headed to the governor’s desk. Former Congresswoman Linda Smith of Vancouver, who founded Shared Hope International to fight global child sex trafficking, traveled to Olympia repeatedly during the legislative session to push for the bill.
