What is Human Trafficking Awareness Day?We are asking that all of our supporters help educate their family, friends, co-workers, and peers about the reality of human trafficking. On January 4, 2010 President Obama signed a proclamation declaring that January is “National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month,” acknowledging that SLAVERY STILL EXISTS. Why is it important? January 11, 2010 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day - a day that you can help spread the word that SLAVERY STILL EXISTS and that we can make a difference together! The more people who know the more people we can mobilize. What you can do to help:
There are several things you can do to get involved in the anti-trafficking movement. Advocate for legislation, educate others, or donate time and resources. Below is a list of immediate actions you can take right now to help raise awareness that modern day slavery still exists and that together we can eradicate this terrible crime!
Spread the word, be the voice of change: Help support our programs that provide essential services to victims of human trafficking. - We operate a 24/7 National Human Trafficking Hotline; provide emergency shelter, transitional housing, and comprehensive case management for survivors of human trafficking.
- At 1:11 pm show your support and donate $11. This small amount can go a long way. If 100 people donate $11 we can house, cloth, and provide food for a survivor for one whole month.
- Make a donation today to help sustain our critical programs!
- Take part in our Human Trafficking Awareness Day Fundraising Project on Change.org!
